Abstract
The research conducted at the Gloria María Calcaño Polytechnic Institute, Regional 14-Nagua, District 05-Sánchez, Dominican Republic, aimed to implement the digital tools Educaplay and Genially to enhance assessment at the secondary level. The study employed a qualitative approach and an action research design, following the Kemmis model. Data collection included semi-structured interviews, focus groups, participant observation, and field notes. A training plan was designed, consisting of ten interventions focused on the basic and advanced use of Educaplay and Genially, as well as their integration into formative assessment activities. The findings demonstrated that teachers strengthened their technological and pedagogical skills, showing a willingness to transform their assessment practices. Interactive and gamified activities allowed students to participate with greater motivation, improve their academic performance, and gain a clearer understanding of the content. Immediate feedback fostered an active and achievement-oriented work environment. Teachers were able to design dynamic assessments that promote meaningful learning. The results confirm that the incorporation of Educaplay and Genially modernizes assessment processes, transforming them into formative experiences aligned with MINERD Ordinance 04-2023. Their implementation fostered a culture of educational innovation, strengthened assessment as a continuous process, and facilitated the integration of digital and pedagogical competencies. Overall, these tools demonstrate their contribution to contextualized, participatory assessment that is consistent with the demands of the current curriculum.
